On 1 April 2023 The Cambridge Royal Albert Homes transferred from a benevolent society to a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO), Charity Number 1190144, and remain members of the Almshouse Association.
As we transitioned to the CIO we bid farewell to three of our long standing trustees, Rosalind Bird, John Martin and Suzie McCave, who we thank dearly for their contributions and support over the past few years.

Here at the Cambridge Royal Albert Homes, we provide homes for independent people of modest means who have a close association with Cambridge. We know how important it is to have a safe and secure home with the companionship of others nearby. To us, every resident is unique, as are the homes they create in the Victorian almshouses we provide near the centre of Cambridge. These knitted houses, made by the staff and residents of the Royal Albert Homes, are similarly unique, each one different but part of a group.
Currently on display at St Giles' Church, Cambridge.

The Cambridge Royal Albert Homes has been given a very generous £1,000 cheque from the Cambridge Freemasons who donated the money to be used to improve disabled access to the Homes for its elderly residents.
Gill said ”On behalf of the Albert Homes residents I wish to thank David and the Freemasons for the extremely generous cheque to be used to improve disabled access to the Homes”.
David Cameron replied “that his organisation was delighted to support the Royal Albert Homes to provide a safe environment for its residents through improving disabled access to the homes by building wheelchair and walking frame on wheels access”. He added, “I have often driven past the homes and admired their Victorian architecture and am delighted at this opportunity to visit and find out more about these beautiful homes”.
Eva Shaw, said “How kind of them to donate such a generous cheque. I was amazed."
Everyone at the homes wishes to thank the Cambridge Freemasons for their kind generosity.
Many thanks from our residents to Waitrose for £267.00 through their green token scheme in their Trumpington store
The residents plan to use the money in their Community Hall, possibly for an indoor bowling mat and bowls.
Our Trustee, Suzie McCave, took great care in putting together three magnificent pots for trustees who have been involved with the Cambridge Royal Albert Homes and have retired after many years of dedicated service as trustees.
