From the very beginning in 1846, we have relied upon the help and financial support of the people, professions and businesses of Cambridge and the surrounding area. And also the Cambridge Colleges.
"Living at the Homes is a very pleasant experience being a safe and caring community in colourful surroundings of lawns and gardens" a resident.
"It is such a wonderful community here and we are all so friendly. We have our own homes but a neighbour is never far away"

Can you help us?
Taking care of the Cambridge Royal Albert Homes and securing it for future residents to enjoy, requires significant ongoing funding and expertise. The finances of the homes have always been a challenge, and therefore tightly run, however over the years we have been very fortunate to receive generous bequests.
Your support would be very much valued, whether that be financial or practical.
If you feel you can help in anyway, please do contact the office by using the details on the contact and information page.
You may choose to remember us in your Will - even a small Legacy can make a tremendous difference to our homes.
Why do we need financial support?
Since its foundation by a group of philanthropic businessmen, the Cambridge Royal Albert Homes have been able to maintain and improve accommodation for residents throughout the years, owing to the generosity of local benefactors.
Although our residents make a contribution to the upkeep of the Homes, we heavily depend on income received from our carefully managed funds, to keep our residents contribution at an affordable level. Our Grade II listed buildings require a great deal of ongoing maintenance, to ensure they meet the statutory standards required today as well as keeping them in good condition for future resident. It is hard to believe that as recently as 1967, the Cambridge Royal Albert Homes had just one central bath in the Warden’s house!
Due to generous Legacies in the past, each home does now have its own bathroom! But with an ageing population, and the desire to help residents to lead independent lives in their own homes for as long as possible, further amenities will have to be provided in the future.

In 2016 a generous legacy of £211,000 from Miss Egan, allowed us to replace seven kitchens, make improvements to the communal meeting room as well as other useful work for the benefit of the residents.
